Open Call

Phase 2 of the Provocations Track at SloMoCo takes place August 25th – September 29th, 2021, and involves an open call for provocations, ongoing exchange via the #provocations Discord channel, a curated video series with provocateurs, and an online discussion featuring a ‘lightning round’ of provocations.

The call for provocations on the question of what aspects of your practice / research are invisible to your collaborators? has been reopened and will have two deadlines: September 1 & September 15. Submit here: https://provocations.online/invisibilityincollaboration/submit/

• Submissions received by September 1 will be invited to participate in our ongoing “Provocations | Conversations | Iterations” video series, as well as the final public event and lightning round of provocations (see below).
• Submissions received by September 15 will be invited to join us for the Lightning Round of Provocations hosted during the final Phase 2 public event on September 29.

Provocations on Discord

We also invite you to join our ongoing discussion via the #Provocations Channel on the SloMoCo Discord server. Provocations will be posted one at a time to spur community dialogue after the August 25th deadline, so be sure to check back in and get involved in the conversation. Need access? The call for provocations on the question of what escapes computation in interactive performance? remains open on a rolling basis, so you can submit anytime! We also invite you to join our ongoing discussions via the Provocations Channel on the SloMoCo Discord server, which will traverse all three phases of the Provocations Track from March to November 2021.

The Provocations Track @ SloMoCo is part of the ongoing Provocations Project, launched in 2018 at the Conference on Movement and Computing (MOCO), and sustained via open calls for provocations, online discourse, and public events both within and beyond the MOCO community. The Provocations Project aims to hold space for generative exchange around novel and systemic conditions that affect cross-disciplinary and collaborative practices. The project is not specific to any one discipline, topic, or community, and yet each question posed as part of the project becomes situated through its resonance in a particular context – in this case MOCO and SloMoCo.
